CIPPE 2026 was recently inaugured at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). BASF, a leading global chemical company, participated with four core business divisions: Petrochemicals, Intermediates, Chemical Catalysts and Adsorbents, and High-Pressure Technology, showcasing integrated, low-carbon solutions across the entire petroleum and petrochemical value chain. Leveraging over a century of technological expertise and strong local innovation capabilities, BASF continues to support the green transformation of the petroleum and petrochemical industry.
展会期间,巴斯夫市售化工催化剂与吸附剂全球副总裁柯世德(Christian Peters)、中间体业务部亚太区战略、项目与许可总监翟雅比(Abhisek Chakrabarti)、石油化学品业务部全球技术许可总监 Shahab Taebi接受了行业媒体的联合专访,深度解读巴斯夫贯通石化上下游的完整低碳技术布局。
During the exhibition,Christian Peters, Vice President of Global Market Catalysts and Adsorbents, BASF; Abhisek Chakrabarti, Director of Strategy, Projects and Licensing, Intermediates Asia Pacific, BASF; and Shahab Taebi, Global Technology Licensing Director of Petrochemicals Division, BASF, participated in the joint interview with industry media and trade media. They provided in-depth insights into BASF’s integrated low-carbon technology portfolio spanning both the upstream and downstream segments of the petrochemical value chain.
多元工艺技术落地,打造石化全链条产品解决方案
Leveraging diverse process technologies to deliver integrated solutions across the petrochemical value chain
谈及巴斯夫本次展出的核心工艺与技术许可体系,石油化学品业务部全球技术许可总监 Shahab Taebi 作出详细介绍。本次展会重点展出巴斯夫成熟落地的氢甲酰化工艺,依托烯烃与合成气反应生成醛类中间体,衍生出差异化醇类产品,经精制后广泛用于增塑剂生产,核心代表产品包含辛醇、异壬醇;乙烯与合成气反应产出的丙醛,亦可覆盖多类下游应用场景。
Shahab Taebi, Global Technology Licensing Director, Petrochemicals Division, introduced the core process and technology licensing system, showcased by BASF. At this exhibition, BASF highlights its proven and commercially established hydroformylation technology. Based on the reaction of olefins with synthesis gas (syngas), this process produces aldehyde intermediates, which can be further converted into differentiated alcohol products. After refining, these alcohols are widely used in plasticizer production. Key representative products include 2ethylhexanol and isononanol. In addition, the reaction of ethylene with synthesis gas yields propionaldehyde, which can also serve a broad range of downstream application scenarios.
同时,巴斯夫高纯异丁烯成套生产工艺同步亮相,以此原料制备的多规格聚异丁烯,适配润滑油、燃油添加剂等核心赛道。另一项特色技术许可方案可实现乙烯向甲基丙烯酸转化,进一步产出甲基丙烯酸甲酯,为光学板材、精密光学器件制造提供核心原料。整套工艺技术成熟、可规模化落地,能根据客户生产需求提供定制化技术许可服务。
At the same time, BASF is presenting its fully integrated production technology for highpurity isobutylene. Polyisobutylene with varying specifications, produced based on this feedstock, is well suited for key applications such as lubricants and fuel additives. Another featured technology offering enables the conversion of ethylene into methacrylic acid, which can be further processed into methyl methacrylate (MMA), providing essential raw materials for the production of optical sheets and precision optical components. The entire set of process technologies is mature and ready for largescale industrial implementation, with customizable technology licensing solutions available to meet specific customer production requirements.

锚定可持续发展战略,本土化合作持续扩容

Shahab 围绕行业低碳转型、可持续发展布局及本土合作规划展开分享。 他表示,巴斯夫以全新“制胜之道”战略为核心,确立 “创造可持续发展的化学” 发展目标,致力于成为所有谋求绿色转型的企业客户与合作伙伴的首选合作方。可持续发展已深度融入巴斯夫全产业链运营:除绿色低碳新品持续迭代外,全系列工艺技术均经过长期研发优化,从源头降低产业环境负担 —— 通过优化能耗、削减污染物排放、减少固废处置量、提升装置稳定性、降低火炬燃烧频次等多重路径,全方位压缩生产全流程碳足迹。
Shahab shared insights on the industry’s lowcarbon transition, BASF’s sustainability roadmap, and its localization strategy. He noted that BASF has established its new “Winning Way” strategy as the core framework, with the goal of “creating chemistry for a sustainable future,” and aims to become the partner of choice for customers and collaborators pursuing green transformation. Sustainability is deeply embedded across BASF’s entire value chain operations: beyond continuously advancing new lowcarbon products, all process technologies have undergone longterm R&D optimization to reduce environmental impact at the source. This includes improving energy efficiency, lowering pollutant emissions, reducing solid waste generation, enhancing plant stability, and minimizing flaring frequency—thereby comprehensively reducing the carbon footprint across the full production lifecycle.
在技术许可业务层面,巴斯夫可为客户提供催化剂、专属工艺、工程配套服务、定制成套设备一体化打包解决方案。现阶段相关产品与配套服务依托巴斯夫全球供应链供给中国市场,未来本土合作无边界拓展空间:只要契合双方长期战略、能够创造双向价值,巴斯夫将持续扩充国内本土供应商资源。目前企业已与多家国内工程企业建立稳定合作体系,后续将深化战略合作,扩大本土工程伙伴协作规模,为中国及亚太区域技术许可项目提供本地化支撑。
At the technology licensing level, BASF offers integrated, endtoend solutions including catalysts, proprietary processes, engineering support, and customized turnkey equipment packages. At present, related products and services are supplied to the Chinese market through BASF’s global supply chain. Looking ahead, there is significant potential to expand local partnerships: as long as collaboration aligns with longterm strategic goals and creates mutual value, BASF will continue to broaden its local supplier base in China. The company has already established stable partnerships with several domestic engineering firms and will further deepen strategic cooperation, expanding collaboration with local engineering partners to provide localized support for technology licensing projects in China and across the Asia Pacific region.

In addition, Abhisek Chakrabarti, Director of Strategy, Projects and Licensing, Intermediates Asia Pacific, BASF, introduced that BASF’s Intermediates business serves diverse sectors including textiles, semiconductors, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. With more than 600 intermediate products and over 30 proprietary core technologies, BASF empowers virtually all chemical value chains that produce a broad range of consumer and industrial goods used in everyday life.

At this exhibition, three mature process licensing solutions are featured: the PolyTHF® 1800 process tailored for the textile industry, the formic acid process covering a wide range of industrial applications, and the methylamine process supporting the lithiumion battery sector. Backed by decades of global plant operating experience, these technologies are highly reliable and safe and offer clear advantages over competing solutions in terms of energy efficiency, material recycling, and environmental performance—maximizing customers’ investment returns. BASF will continue to further upgrade and introduce more advanced integrated technology solutions in the future.

However, from a long-term perspective, the petrochemical sector continues to offer strong and promising growth potential. At this exhibition, BASF showcases 3Dprinted catalyst, offering an intuitive visualization of the core innovation behind its catalytic materials. The specially optimized structures help enhance specific surface area, reduce pressure drop in plant operations, and improve product yields. Across multiple value chains, including sulfuric acid production, sulfonation processes, and industrial tail gas treatment, BASF offers mature, fully integrated catalytic and adsorption solutions that are commercially proven at scale. These products are already being reliably supplied to global markets. Christian further emphasized that innovation is a core competency embedded in BASF’s DNA. The company will continue to advance the development of nextgeneration catalytic materials, using technological innovation to drive industry transformation and upgrading.
